Which IBM Content Manager Products Are Affected?
It’s no secret that there are many different IBM Content Manager products out there. So, you might be wondering exactly how this is going to affect your organization.
Many of the IBM Content Manager products hit the end of support years ago. If you’re using products like Content Manager OnDemand for i5/OS 6.1.0, you already know that support has ended.
Support ended for IBM Content Manager on IBM i 7.1 on April 30. And support for the product on IBM i 7.2 and 7.3 will end on September 30.
Additional core IBM Content Manager products are also slated to be withdrawn from support on September 30. These include IBM Content Manager ImagePlus® Workstation program, IBM DB2 Content Manager for iSeries, and IBM Content Manager OnDemand for Multiplatforms.

What Does the End of IBM Content Manager Mean for Me?
The end of support for IBM Content Manager means it’s time for you to start looking for a replacement.
There are a lot of risks to running unsupported software. And these risks certainly apply to IBM Content Manager, too.
Security vulnerabilities are one of the biggest dangers. You don’t want to open up your critical business documents to security threats. Replacing IBM Content Manager before it hits end of life will be important to maintaining your document security.
Another big risk for running IBM Content Manager going forward is software incompatibility. IBM Content Manager will never be compatible with versions of the IBM i platform beyond 7.3. So, if you upgrade your IBM i, you won’t be able to use IBM Content Manager.
Replacing IBM Content Manager before that happens will ensure you’ll stay compatible with the latest version of IBM i. Or, if your organization is moving away from IBM i, it could be a good time to consider a Windows- or cloud-based content management system.
